Saxophonist Myanna has strong enough chops that she could get away with flogging the same vamp for 15 minutes, but on her new Divine Dysfunktion she enhances the grooves with crafty songwriting and a supporting cast of equally inventive improvisors (especially tasty are the Afro-Cuban "JP Mambo" and the title track, which has an appealing Steely Dan vibe.  -Jon Garelick

The soul-jazz multi saxophonist celebrates her new album, "Divine Dysfunktion", her fourth as a leader, which supports burning sax, guitar, and organ solos with a variety of deep grooves, from R&B to funk to Latin. -Kevin Lowenthal

- Boston Globe

“As a multi-reed player, a composer and a bandleader, Myanna shows her musicality through her unique brand of funky feels and songs on every track of One Never Knows. Nearly all the tunes were written by the leader herself. The band plays her original material as a cohesive unit with heavily funkified leanings. Myanna mixes different timbres, both by alternating on soprano, tenor, alto and baritone saxes and by choosing different instrumental combinations for different tunes. These different sound assemblages, however, make the album sound more cohesive rather than less. The unity in the face of such diversity comes from Myanna's vision, realized through a number of well written compositions and arrangements. Definitely one to check out.” - David Miele

— Jazz Improv

“Wielding alto, tenor, baritone, and soprano saxes, Myanna blows up a storm on an assortment of funk-infused workouts and bluesy organ groovers. Throw in some slow blues, jump blues, and Horace Silver-like Latin-tinged numbers, and this is a superior contemporary-jazz offering.” - Ed Kopp

— Jazziz Magazine

“Myanna, a veteran saxophonist based in the Boston area, is quite impressive throughout this soul-jazz set - [she] deserves to be much better known.” - Scott Yanow

— All Music Guide

“Electrifying one moment, and soothing the next. "One Never Knows" what's coming from this classy and saxy lady. Although she's been in the game for a long time, pleasing crowds in the Northeast, this could be the one that finally gets her some well-deserved attention internationally. I certainly hope so. Keep on jammin, Myanna!” - John Marcus

— Jazz Review.com

“This is exciting music that is full of passionate playing and good tunes.” - Eric Jackson

— WGBH Radio

“Grover Washington was one of the hardest blowing saxophonists I ever heard, bar none. It's the same thing with Myanna. To hear her live is very exciting. She's full of power and energy and in control of her instrument.” - Eric Jackson

— The Boston Globe

“Myanna's newest album is a grabber from the first notes of the upbeat "Slippin' Down". The centerpiece, with terrific soloing from Myanna, is her own composition "Chillin' at the Lake"".” - Erin Symkus

— Cambridge Chronicle

“Her quartet unfurled waves of energetic jazz-funk".” - Joan Anderman

— The Boston Globe
